WOOT GO GAILE!!! Finally Anet(Gaile) (Gaile IS anet) fights back, she put the point I have been trying to make for a loooong time to people who constantly nag and whine into a bit more perspective, if ya dun like it, dun do it, if you don't like the game don't play the game, if you don't like the event, don't go to it. This has put a smile on my face seeing gaile completely shut down the negativity! I can now put the Defender O Anet Suit of Armor up and take a break, I hope.

BTW I lurve the scribe, if I could meet the scribe I would give im a handshake and say good job, I like reading about stuff that happens in game from a roleplaying perspective, I also have an idea for the scribe, maybe he can do some reports on the various missions, like Vizunah Square or Abbadon's Mouth or something bigger like the Deep or Urgoz.

To be fair, I'm sure there are at least several more employees. There's Alex, and, um... The Scribe... They must really be efficient workers. And there's The Frog... Wait, can frogs type? I propose ANet conduct a study of frogs worldwide and hire any of the ones that can type. Because, as pointed out in the Rocky & Bullwinkle Movie, if you can't understand something, you've got nothing to complain about. Well, nothing specific, anyway.

lol I know but Gaile is the most important part of Anet to us players, she is teh 1337 one we have contact with. Also yes I know there are more employees, I hope to maybe one day be one of them, hey anet you guys have any openings for a story designer type person or maybe a tester?

I DEAMAND A PAY RISE FOR GAILE!! She essentially stands for Anet in all it's glory and disfunction, so she is the one that takes the brunt of the ctiricism, and from the looks of the last time Froggie showed up, so does the Frog.

Most members of the community are enjoying the feature immensely, although, like any "newspaper" there are sure to be articles that any individual likes more than others. For some, Random Acts of Kindness is the greatest thing since sliced cheese. For others, it's "meh." The outreach is to players of all levels and to owners of either or both games. The goal is a few interesting articles a week, some of which will be more appealing than others to any given player. And really, that's ok!

So when I see petulent, "I don't liiiike it!" comments, I'm disappointed. The members here usually express themselves better than this, and usually have something worthwhile to offer. This isn't the PvP arena and you don't need to engage that mistaken belief that you can "prove your worth" by trashtalking. Honest. Guys, it's like television. If you don't enjoy the program, turn the channel. If you are not a reader of X magazine or Y newspaper, no problem, don't read it. If you're not a fan of the presentation or the content of The Scribe, please, don't feel compelled to follow the link and then diss the content. How silly can that be? (And after all, the article was reportage, not advocacy, as someone wisely pointed out here. Just a "here's something interesting.")

And I cannot help but be amused by the whole "I'm more veteran than the writer" thing? I'm smiling here, because The Scribe has been playing the game, daily, longer than anyone on these boards. Anyone. The Scribe has been involved in the game since well before it was announced, since before E3 for Everyone. And that's PvP, PvE, solo play, quirky builds, guild interaction, and a lot more. So let's get a few things straight, and I intend this in the most positive way possible: Feedback of value is more than welcome. For a possible factual error, "I think I've spotted a possible error, I'll drop The Scribe a note." For suggestions, such comments as "I've seen some other novel builds, such as (this) and (that) and think it would make an interesting idea to cover those." Or how about "There's an email address for The Scribe, I'll send some general suggestions for future topics."

Not to be too harsh here, but if what most of you posted in this thread were sent to that mail address, I'd hope that The Scribe would give it the careful and courteous attention that it deserves: The .04 nanoseconds that it takes to hit "Delete."
GG. Some people make natural comments about the stupidity of the build featured and suddenly we're all evil for giving our honest opinions.

Looks like ANET is all ready to listen to us - oh wait..nevermind, since it would just go to the DELETE box since it might be construed as negative.

constructive criticsm i expect is always welcomed but the OP just bashed the scribe without going into any real detail.

So the Scribe talked about a bad build..ever think that was done on purpose perhaps? maybe just for a laugh..he is there to talk about PvE and PvP based things no matter how big or small

its not about how big or small it is its about if someone who just started the game looks at the scribe and is like "Wow that sounds like a great build im going to run it" he gets the skills runs it and realizes wow that build isnt that great then the person might just think builds put on the scribe are just (no offense to the guy who made the build) garbage and not even worth trying.

Kudos to the Warrior/Elementalist who completed that mission. Obviously, he has a build that works for him, which is why it's really funny to see people rip him for his build. Almost makes me think that people seem a little jealous that
he can make that build work for him, and they couldn't/can't....

As for the scribe...keep on writing....

Oh please.

If you don't like the scribe, ignore it.

To suggest that somehow the scribe is going to lead to people playing with builds you disapprove is completely ridiculous. I don't know that I've ever seen a more pathetic complaint about something. Honestly. It smacks of "red herring" on *every* level.

Clearly you guys have some kind of problem with the scribe in general. It's just a little article from time to time about things people are doing in the game. It's not endorsing people to play a certain way. It's just a harmless little write up on player activities.

All I see here is pretty ludicrous complaints, followed by a well thought out message by Gaile.. and then people getting all defensive about it and not really responding to anything she said specificially... instead just continuing to complain about it somehow tarnishing the game. Get over it people. It's not that big of a deal.

Whatever happened to the old premise that nothing is a bad build in the right hands?

Of course most of us never agreed with this in full, eight skills from eight attributes probably wouldn't work, however (particularly in PvE) "builds" have never really been a necessity - the game is pretty balanced.

I don't play a warrior, I'll fully admit that, however I did find the build interesting, and the article an interesting read. A W/E who isn't playing shock/gale, yes in my experience that is different. He was a hammer wielder, once again not all that common (in PvE), and he was mixing Air and Earth.

ZOMG he wasn't using a UBER1337 build, he must suxors!

What a ridiculous attitude to have. I'll agree that he probably won't get into too many teams if people start questioning his build, but that has more to do with their inability to play outside the square, than how "sucky" his build is. Evidently the build works in the right hands.

I've just played 6 hours straight in AB, monking. Let me tell you I've been owned more times by W/E and W/A utilising teleports and knockdowns than by any other profession - eles, assassins, mesmers, necros, wammos, even touch rangers. So much so that I start running when I see a hammer wielding warrior, whereas before I was perfectly happy to let them hit on me while I trotted around healing my party. KDS builds have NEVER been BAD builds, however the people running them have never fully understood the best way to use the skills. I'm not a bad monk, I wouldn't say I was excellent either, but I can usually get my team through AB without anyone dying, it helps a lot that my usual team utilise a lot of self-heals as well. My point is this, just because YOU can't use the build, can't see the point of, can't see it working, and YOU suck at it, doesn't mean that it is a BAD build.

I would welcome someone using that build into my group. But then, I'm one of those people who really don't freak out about builds as long as the mission or quest gets done. As long as you can do your job and don't stand around with your finger in someplace it shouldn't be, we're good.

If I had a warrior, I might try that build just to see how it works. Take that, all you build snobs.

Actually, to nitpick, Alex (and most if not all of his counterparts for continental Europe) is directly employed by NCSoft, not by ANet. However, there are all the people who actually make the game.

Agreed. KD warriors are by far the more dangerous to monks (I monk all the time in PvP, and just like you, when I see a KD warrior coming at me, I cast RoF and run )

My question is, how many of people tried the build? And don't say, "I didn't try it because it sounds so gay."

Next thing you know he will see Gaile Gray and the frog and say he saw some magic witch with her frog talking to bystanders in lions arch. And everyone will be like omg noe way hax ok omgwtfbbqwaffle. Or some random thing like that . I really like the scribe it is sort of like a semi update news thingy. And provides sometime useful information like the school newspaper.

it's terrible, but most importantly, it's from Matuu Keep to Tanglewood... not exactly the toughest mobs there

i still prefer my PvE warrior skillbar that has axe and sword skills. it's the definition of overpowered.

Time to find where Ride the Lightning is...to try it out : )

On a different note...

Backbreaker --> Holy Strike --> Soulstone Strike > KD --> Aftershock

With a decent amount of Smiting (10 or so), you deal Backbreaker damage + 80 damage + 80 damage. Follow up with like Hammer Bash --> Crushing Blow or something.

BTW...FROG PWNS J00 OMG WTF H4X : )

Sure, it works. But it can be better. I think everyone's worked up about it because the scribe is GLORIFYING mediocrity.

On the other hand, if you forget all the numbers and gameplay elements, the build is quite flavorful from an RP perspective. Besides, nearly EVERYTHING works in PvE; there's no need to be at 100% efficiency. Just do what works and what looks good.

Next time, it would probably cause less outcry (and be more helpful to new buildmakers) if the gap between RP novelty and raw effectiveness wasn't as large. The build doesn't have to be GvG material, but it shouldn't be one that's as suboptimal as this.

(I find it funny that the people flame the flamers for flaming. Thanks for adding a lot of crap to the thread.)

It's not The Scribes aim / intention / job to report on uberbuilds or try and create the next FoTM. It's something for nothing. If you dont like The Scribe, dont read it.
